Portal Axle Anti Fatigue Bolt.

Can you reuse the "Anti Fatigue Bolt"? (fig 1)



I can't find anywhere in the Factory Manual where it says you have to use new bolts when you rebuild the portals but I'm dubious.

I haven't got new bolts but if necessary I'II order them and have to wait for there delivery before I can continue reassembling the boxes.

Yes, you can reuse the bolt. I always reused them and never had any
problems with them breaking or even stretching too much.

Even on my race Pinzgauer where I change all portal seals after every single race. Some bolts have been reused 8 or 9 times.

Thanks Richard, nice to know that you've never had any problems.

Given your advice I guess I've got a job to do the portals today, although there is the annual "Bathhurst 1000" (1000 km, V8 race) on today, so I'm not sure how much work will actually get done, compared to time sitting in front of the TV
